This Tarantula is known as the Queensland Whistling or Barking Tarantula and is native to Queensland Australia. The common name comes from the ability to make a hissing noise when provoked. This species can reach a legspan of about 8 and a half inches which makes it the largest Australian tarantula. Lifespan of these tarantulas can be up to 30 years for the Females and 8 years for the males. While this tarantula is non-deadly it's bite can induce up to 6 hours of vomiting in a human and cause small cats and or dogs to pass away. However, it remains to be a highly sought after Tarantula in the hobby and is for EXPERIENCED KEEPERS ONLY!! handle only when needed and caution is advised.
